MEMS accelerometers handle auto applications

The Series 3741 high-sensitivity MEMS accelerometers from PCB Piezotronics boast a low-profile design that allows mounting on restricted areas of crash-simulation sleds, truck axles, and aircraft wing surfaces, while their DC response enables measurements in both static and dynamic environments. Devices offer full-scale ranges from 2 g to 200 g, up to 2-kHz measurement capability, and sensitivities of up to 1 V/g.

The series was designed in response to more stringent automotive safety testing standards and their accompanying occupant-safety system requirements, including side-impact protection, child restraints and seat testing, pedestrian protection, wheelchair integral restraint systems (WIRS), SAE J2249, and rear impact and whiplash protection.
