Strain relief of SMD connectors
537 1 Sep 03.2019, 16:48:12

For a product I need a 6P JSTXH right angle connector and a DC jack.
What are your experiences with strain relief on these components?
Is SMD reliable or is THT preferred?

There's a fair bit of resistance offered when removing a 6-pole JST connector.  If the application demands that the cable be inserted & removed often, my preference would be for through-hole mounting.  If the application is "plug-it-in-and-forget-it", then SMD would be ok IMO.
