5" 7 segment LED controller

This project used 3 different boards and stencils from PCBGoGo. It is a 5" 7 segment LED controller used in time and score keeping for different games. The larger board is the main controller which uses a LM2596 adjustable buck converter module to supply the power to the LEDs, a DS3231 RTC for time and temp, a PIC32 for control, a TLC5916 to drive the segments and a MAX3485 for RS485 communications. The smaller board is a cascadable driver for the added digits. You can use up to 8 digits together connected by a 6 pin IDC connector and cable. It takes the signals from the controller and uses a TLC5916 to drive the digit. These boards connect together using IDC cable for signals and 2 conductor cable for power. The boards have thru holes to solder the 10 pins on the back of the 7 segment display directly to the boards. This project was made easy to construct due to the fine work of PCBGogo. Another project that worked as planned due to the quality of the PCBs. I highly recommend PCBGogo! The manufacturing time is super fast, even when ordering larger quantities. MotoGeek forum
